Because your home's current appliances consume a significant amount of electricity, we'll need to use a DCC-12 load management device to safely install your EV charger. This device monitors your electricity usage and charges your car when it's safe to do so. While this option is more cost-effective than upgrading your entire electrical service, you may encounter capacity problems if you plan to add more appliances in the future. DCC-12

With the charger installed, you will be over your home's electrical capacity. As such, we are proposing a DCC Load Monitoring device. DCC-9 is an EV Energy Management System specifically designed to allow the connection of a charger to the main feeder of the panel without affecting the load calculation.

This device will monitor your home's electrical capacity and deliver a charge to your car when it's safe to do so. This is less expensive than a service upgrade, but  you may continue to run into load capacity issues if you add new appliances in the future.
